Implementation of the Revised 2nd Class Syllabus

On January 01, 2005, a revised Second Class syllabus for Power Engineering examinations became effective.

This revised Second Class syllabus brought about a major change in the layout of the examinations.

This change is so substantial that examination papers already successfully completed can not be Integrated into the revised Standardized Second Class program.

To assist in this transition, the examinations for both the old and revised Second class syllabi will be available concurrently for 5 (five) years. By the end of 2009, the old second class syllabus will be removed.  This will give examination candidates, who have already successfully completed at least one examination paper under the old Second Class Syllabus, ample time to finish up their examinations and earn their certificate.

There was a transition period from January 01, 2005 to June 30, 2005.

During this transition period, candidates had the option of starting examinations under either the old syllabus or revised syllabus. By June 30, 2005, all applicants who have not successfully completed at least one examination paper under the old syllabus will have to write their examinations under the revised syllabus format.
