An Alberta Power Engineering Student

Got the Highest Marks in Canada

At the annual Interprovincial Power Engineering Curriculum Committee / Standardization of Power Engineer Examinations Committee meeting held in June, an Alberta 4th Class Power Engineering student won the top power engineering student award from PanGlobal Training Systems Ltd.

Ms Sholeh Kazemi, from Keyano College in Fort McMurray , obtained the highest combined marks (95% college marks and 91.7% SOPEEC exam marks) in Canada for last year.  The award was presented to Ms Kazemi by John Siggers (SOPEEC Chair), first from the left, Garry White (IPECC Chair), third from the left, and Bob Clarke (Chief Operating Officer of PanGlobal), 4th from the left.

Power engineering is a challenging career which demands a variety of skills and a broad knowledge in automatic controls and boiler and pressure vessel operation.  There are good opportunities for a power engineer in Canada.

The Interprovincial Power Engineering Curriculum Committee (IPECC) is an innovative organization in advising the Standardization of Power Engineer Examinations Committee (SOPEEC) on matters related to examinations, curriculum, and syllabi for persons pursuing careers in Power Engineering.  The two committees work together to enhance the power engineering program throughout Canada .  Detailed information about IPECC and SOPEEC can be found on the SOPEEC website, www.sopeec.org.
