Canada is United in Standardization of Power Engineer Examinations

The province of Quebec became a member of the Standardization of Power Engineer Examinations Committee (SOPEEC) in 2006. Quebec’s application was approved at the 43rd annual meeting of the Association of Chief Inspectors in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Quebecis now participating at the 4th Class Certification level.

Standardization of Certification allows mobility of power engineers within Canada without further examinations. Standardized Certificates attained by writing standardized examination papers are recognized in all jurisdictions in Canada. SOPEEC establishes the syllabi and develops the examination questions for all classes of power engineering.

SOPEEC is a committee to develop and promote the utilization of a uniform national standard for the qualification, examination and certification of power engineers, providing for mobility of power engineers within Canada. SOPEEC is delegated by, and responsible to, the Canadian Association of Chief Inspectors.
